Authentic Pickup
 |
welcome to my latest
adventure: A complete, running, inspected, authentically restored, Task-Force,
3200 series, 3-speed on the tree, manual, foot start, Chevrolet 1/2 ton long-bed pickup
truck.
|
 |
This site hopes to
educate the viewer about the newly restored truck, which is located
on the central Texas Gulf Coast.

You should buy this
now! I'll miss her, but I'll part with her for a
price.

Learn the fun path and
interesting vehicle restoration history. See what transformations
vehicle has undergone over its half decade of work. This is
complete frame-up restoration of the
original junkyard-rescued truck, producing essentially a brand new 1957 vehicle.

Finishing the wood bed was the last
part of the project. It is all complete, having been dry fitted, drilled, sanded, rounded, vacuumed, stained,
varnished (it uses five,
with one week drying time between each), cured, carnuba-waxed and
nearly completely installed. Here is a
details worksheet (
opens new window, PDF file).

Consider living
history. A dollar then is worth $7.57 now. Nixon was
Vice President, "Leave it to Beaver" premiered, and Tang was
introduced. Sputnik launched, stamps cost 3 cents, and
B-52 bombers began full-time flying alert in case of USSR attack.
Why discuss the bombers? Well, see the two chrome fins mounted on the hood
below? They were called "Bomber Sights" when they were
introduced by Chevrolet.
This was an uncommon option in those days, but this truck was
blessed to have them installed at the factory. |
